In 1999 the Danish playwright Claus Beck-Nielsen wrote "The Parliament", a play about a famous architect whom one beautiful morning decides to sketch and build a world parliament and introduce the universal democracy. "The Parliament" opened at the 11th of January 2003.
In 1996, three years earlier, numbers of influential Americans formulated their vision for a better world in the think-tank Project for the New American Century (PNAC). They believed that because of Americas newly gained status as the imperial sovereign, America should undertake the role as supreme world leader and introduce American values, democracy and liberty to all countries around the world. The vision of PNAC was tested in Afghanistan in 2001.
