The History of The Democracy
ACT 6: MISSION IRAN
The world stage. Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Dubai, Bandar Abbas, Shiraz, Yazd, Esfahan, Qom and Tehran from 29 October - 26 November 2006.
In December 2005 the American president made it clear: The next chapter in the American world history was the introduction of a democratic revolution in Iran. So far the Europeans had been playing a supporting role on the world stag. But this time Das Beckwerk wanted to step out of the shadow, take the initiate and realize the American show, but with European means, forms and values.
In March 2006 Das Beckwerk therefore founded the organisation The European Initiative in cooperation with Parallel Action, London. The organisation sent two representatives, Thomas Altheimer & Bob Nielsen, to Washington to hold meetings with a series of leading think-tanks and to collect information about the American plans for Iran. Back in Europe the American plans were written into a script called "Mission Iran", which The European Initiative would direct.
Meanwhile the Iranian president Ahmedinejad sent a letter to his American colleague Bush, in which he called for a dialogue in regards to the conflicts on the world stage. The American president never answered the letter. Subsequently The European Initiative chose to step up and sent a letter to the Iranian president on the 4th of August 2006, in which they accepted Ahmedinejads call for dialogue and announced their plans for a visit to Iran in fall of 2006.
In October 2006 the two representatives from The European Initiative embarked on a journey around the world: from Europe to the Iranian district Therangeles in Los Angeles, via Hong Kong to the Iranian exile society in Dubai. From there they crossed the Strait of Hormuz by boat and entered Iran from the seaside. Hereafter Nielsen & Altheimer travelled through Iran accompanied by an Iranian cameraman. Their mission was to realize the script "Mission Iran" and in this way start the democratic revolution in Iran.
