In the years from 1995-99 Claus Beck-Nielsen worked on a stage-play that was meant to be "the first in a series of seven major political dramas" of which "The Parliament" may be regarded as the second. Like almost everything else in the life and work of Claus Beck-Nielsen also this septology was never completed.
Ci-vi-li-sa-tion opened at the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen on April 11. 2000.
In Sweden the play was staged in Stockholm by Galeasen and Ricard Günther, premiere 1. February 2002.
The play has been translated into French, Swedish, English and German (partly) and published as book by:
